January 2002

Dear Friends,

Below you will find an invitation to The Peggy Browning Fund's FOURTH ANNUAL BENEFIT DINNER DANCE. The Fund's mission is to provide law students the work experiences necessary to learn about the rights and needs of working people. Each year the Fund hosts a National Law Students Workers' Rights Conference and pays summer interns to work for the National Labor Relations Board, labor unions and non-profit organizations which help workers. The Fund was established in memory of Margaret A. Browning, a prominent labor attorney and Member of the National Labor Relations Board. By attending and supporting this Benefit, you will enable the Fund to continue its work. For more information about the Fund, visit www.peggybrowningfund.org.

This year we will be honoring Thomas J. Kelly for his life-long achievements on behalf of workers. For almost three decades, Tom has been a driving force within Philadelphia's powerful labor movement. As President and Business Manager of the region's Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 19, he has been an extraordinary leader, representing his members with courage and tenacity. By spearheading the development of the multi-million dollar Local 19 Administrative Building, state-of-the-art Training Center, and the highly successful Penns Landing Caterers, he helped launch the revitalization of the Delaware River Waterfront area. His numerous leadership roles also include being Fifth General Vice-President of the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association and chairman of the Zoning Board for the City of Philadelphia. Tom was one of the first people in Philadelphia to come forth and support The Peggy Browning Fund.

Please honor Peggy while enjoying an evening with friends and exciting entertainment provided by the Ken Ulansey Ensemble, cited in Philadelphia Magazine as Best Party Band. There will be an open bar until 11:00 p.m., and parking is free.

Our Dinner Dance, along with the accompanying Ad Book, is our major fund-raising event. Please buy tickets, have dinner, dance, and take out an ad. Please fill out the enclosed order form for your tickets and/or advertisement and return it in the enclosed envelope. If you have any questions, or if you want to phone in your ticket order, simply call 215-665-6815.

I look forward to seeing you on March 9th!

Sincerely,

Joseph Lurie
President
