National Labor Relations Board

Division of Judges
Washington, DC

The Division of Judges, National Labor Relations Board, employs approximately 40 judges located throughout the United States, including Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, CA. Judges hear unfair labor practice cases against employers and unions. These cases are tried all over the country, and the law clerk's primary job is to assist the judge post-trial in researching and writing the decision issued in each case.

The law clerk in this particular fellowship will work one-on-one with the Washington-based judges and will also have an opportunity to learn about, and observe, such NLRB functions as conducting representation elections and U.S. Court of Appeals oral arguments of Board cases. Also, when feasible, the law clerk will attend a local trial and follow that case through to its conclusion with a written decision.

The total ten-week stipend for each of these fellowships will be $4,500.
