This is the 2020 fellowship description for this mentor organization.

Based in suburban St. Louis, Hammond and Shinners, P.C. has represented labor unions, Taft-Hartley trust funds and injured workers for over 40 years. We are proud of our commitment to advocacy for working people. The Firm’s union clients represent workers in a diverse array of industries in the public and private sectors.

Our Fellow will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of traditional labor and employee benefit matters. Our Fellow will be invited to assist with and attend arbitration hearings, depositions, motion and agency hearings and trustee meetings. Other assignments will likely include brief and motion drafting and legal research. If interested, our Fellow will also be afforded the opportunity to gain experience in the workers compensation section of our practice.

Our Fellow will be invited to attend all relevant seminars, networking events and fundraisers that occur during the term of the fellowship.

Hammond and Shinners prefers applicants who have completed courses in Labor Law or Employee Benefits and who share the Firm’s commitment to the labor movement.

Our Fellow will receive a total stipend of $10,000 for this ten-week fellowship, to be paid on our existing semimonthly payroll schedule.
