About Our Honoree Amy S. Young Amy S. Young is an experienced lawyer who has represented labor unions for nearly three decades. In her current role, she serves as District Counsel to District 1 of the Communications Workers of America, a labor union comprised of public and private-sector workers in a variety of industries. Ms. Young manages all aspects of legal representation for CWA in New York and New England. She practices before multiple administrative agencies, including the NLRB, PERB, and the New York City Office of Collective Bargaining. She also represents the union in federal and state courts, including duty-of-fair representation claims and discrimination claims. In addition to arbitrating a healthy caseload, Ms. Young oversees the office’s docket of NLRB charges, arbitration, litigation and public sector matters. Prior to becoming in-house counsel, Ms. Young was a partner at Semel, Young & Norum, in New York, where she represented and advised CWA on a variety of matters. She also worked as an attorney with the Legal Aid Society in her home state of West Virginia, handling family law and landlord tenant matters. Ms. Young is a graduate of Rutgers Law School and West Virginia State College. She is a longstanding member of the AFL-CIO Union Lawyers’Alliance.
