About Our Honoree Patricia Shea Pat Shea is the General Counsel of the Communications Workers of America (CWA). She graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She first joined CWA as a law clerk more than 40 years ago and has spent her entire career as a CWA attorney. Pat was born into a union family in a working-class town. Her father was a member of IBEW, her Mom was a member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association, three of her brothers were and are Ironworkers and one is a crane operator represented by IUOE. In fact, Pat went to law school to become a union lawyer. As General Counsel, of CWA, Pat serves as the top legal representative, overseeing all legal work conducted on behalf of the union and supervises CWA’s District and Sector Counsel around the country. She also serves as CWA’s top parliamentarian for union conventions and presidents’meetings and has conducted numerous training sessions with CWA staff, local officers and members on a large variety of subjects.
