The California Nurses Association/National Nurses United, representing Registered Nurses in California and across the nation, seeks to add an experienced attorney with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience and a demonstrated commitment to the labor movement to its in-house Legal Department at CNA/NNU Headquarters in Oakland, California. Candidates with considerably more experience encouraged to apply. This position provides an opportunity to work on diverse and interesting issues for a progressive, growing union. CNA/NNU has gained a national reputation as a leader in the fight against the corporatization of health care, as a leader in the national campaign for single payer/Medicare for all healthcare, and as a pioneer in winning legislative patient protections and collective bargaining contracts that have set new standards for nurses. Staff attorneys practice in a variety of areas including NLRB and state employment relations board work, state and federal litigation, arbitrations, drafting legislation, advising union staff, and active involvement in creative, fast-paced organizing on an array of important social justice campaigns. Interest in and willingness to travel to represent clients in hearings is required.
