Migliaccio & Rathod LLP (“M&R”) – a private public interest law firm in Washington D.C. with a practice focused on class action litigation, principally in the areas of Consumer Protection and Wage Theft – seeks a Mid-Level Associate. This is a rare opportunity for an attorney with two or more years of experience to become an integral part of a busy practice.


About the Job

The Mid-Level Associate will be fully integrated in litigation of our cases. Responsibilities may include investigating potential cases; handling discovery; taking and defending depositions; drafting pleadings, briefs and motions; participating in settlement negotiations and mediations; attending hearings; communicating with clients; and other tasks as assigned.



We are looking for a bright and energetic attorney with two or more years of experience and with an interest in the work we do. Strong analytical, writing, research, and communication skills are a must. A qualified candidate should also be detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple projects and effectively solve problems while remaining calm in deadline-driven situations. Fluency in Spanish is preferred. 



M&R presently takes all of its cases on a contingency-fee basis, which means that the firm does not charge clients contemporaneously for attorneys’ fees, but rather, seeks to recover attorneys’ fees from corporate defendants only when a case is successfully resolved. Hence, pay for attorneys is constrained by the nature of this contingency fee practice, which enables the firm to serve its mostly working-class clientele at no out-of-pocket cost to them. Pay will be at a base salary of $78,000 a year with a performance-based bonus linked to the work performed on cases, particularly on those that are successfully resolved. These bonuses may be substantial. Associates are also eligible for an annual holiday bonus and annual pay raise.


Start Date: November 2020 but negotiable.
