ERISA/Employment Attorney Looking to Make an Impact

You are being invited to come work for a CEO that has multiple business ventures, a nationally recognized law firm, national speaking engagements, and a podcast – Talking Training with the Trades. We are looking for someone that enjoys working with a CEO who has a big vision and desires to help bring that vision to fruition to have a bigger impact on our clients (and the world). We aren’t just lawyers; we are thought leaders in the industry. You will be the third attorney to join our firm!

You must have experience and thrive in interacting with clients and leading board room discussions. Maybe getting new clients is not your thing, and that is okay for now. We aren’t expecting you to bring a bunch of clients with you to our firm. We have the work for you, we just need YOU!

You must love working within a team environment and be comfortable embracing change! We have weekly team meetings and the entire team works with every client – letting each team members’ best qualities shine! Because we are small and niche, we try new things to make relationships with our clients even better. Sometimes the ideas work, sometimes they need to be tweaked. You embrace the journey and know our ultimate goal is to work with the best and most satisfied clients on the planet.

In this role, you will work hard. You will work a minimum of 35 billable hours a week and, at times, projects will dictate you work in the evening or weekend. However, you have flexibility to work where you want to (yes – you can work from home!), you get to travel to client meetings across the nation (approximately once a month – once COVID is over, of course), host video calls with clients, and take unplugged vacations because you know your team has your back (yes, we are talking no emails, no calls, purely unplugged).

Responsibilities

  • Leading client matters from start to finish, including developing and maintaining relationships with clients at the firm. You must LOVE to follow-up with clients just to check in and make sure you nailed the project for them.
  • Providing legal consultation in the following areas: ERISA multi-employer benefit plans, Affordable Care Act, HIPAA and HITECH Security Act, Americans with Disability Act, Harassment and Discrimination, and drug testing and legalities of marijuana.
  • Secret code is “Fall 2020.”
  • You must be willing to head into the court room or handle agency investigations (DOL, IRS, EEOC) when required. About 10% of our work includes cases dealing with collecting contributions from delinquent contractors, litigation or arbitration of scholarship loan agreements, and harassment and discrimination cases.
  • Your day to day duties may include following up with clients on ongoing matters with the firm, reviewing and drafting client policies, standards, trust agreements, and treatment of apprentices, educating clients, reviewing, negotiating and tracking service provider agreements.
  • You must be willing to chip in on creating systems, policies and procedures for the legal operations of the firm. We believe in efficiency and effectiveness at the firm and you must too.

Requirements

  • You must have been practicing for at least seven (7) years as an attorney.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills – excellent at complying with deadlines (both internal and external).
  • Enjoy reaching out to people and listening for how you can do better.
  • You are not scared to ask questions and are always looking to grow – as an attorney, a person and within the industry. You love being a growth-minded person and receiving feedback on how to take it to the next level.
