Assistant General Counsel (1 - 5 Years' Experience)

Job Description: Assistant General Counsel for large and recently certified IBEW Local Union (currently working under a first contract) representing employees of a Major Private Utility Company. The Position requires excellent writing and research skills, and provides an opportunity to work closely with Union leadership and outside Counsel on all aspects of bargaining unit representation, including grievance investigation, drafting, processing, and advocacy of grievances at the first three steps of the grievance process, and assistance to outside Counsel at arbitration; attendance at all meetings with Company officials involving matters of contract administration, at the request of the Business Manager; drafting demands for information and other legal correspondence, at the request of the Business Manager; representing the Union before all municipal, county, and state administrative agencies and tribunals, assisting outside Counsel in all matters involving the National Labor Relations Board and the federal courts.

Requirements: 1 to 5 years experience (clerkship or relevant fellowship will count toward fulfilling this requirement). Maryland Bar Admission or willingness to acquire it. Relocation to the Baltimore, MD/ Washington D.C. area. Position available immediately.
