Part-time Law Student Intern for Office

This position is remote, but would like them to be in DC area, NYC area, or CA.

OPEIU is seeking an intern to work part-time with our First Contract bargaining teams. We are organizing new units in the Tech, non-profit, and higher education sectors. We are looking for individuals to provide support to our Union Representatives leading bargaining in these areas:

  • Assisting organizers and reps with bargaining unit determination hearings and challenges at NLRB,
  • Research on NLRB decisions that are impacting our bargaining (such as not allowing observers.)
  • Assisting with ULPs over retaliation, unilateral changes, refusal to bargain, etc. including participating in fact-finding and hearings,
  • Assist with writing language, counter proposals and tracking information,
  • Assisting Committee members and new stewards with Weingarten meetings.

Interns will be assigned a particular Rep as their supervisor, but will work with different Reps at times. Interns will sit in on bargaining remotely and in person at times. Interns will be exposed to all facets of bargaining first contracts including mobilizations, direct action and research.

Pay: $25/hour, 10 hours per week
