United Steelworkers Legal Department - October 2022

United Steelworkers is a diverse, growing union representing workers in the industrial and service sectors in the United States and Canada. Our 13-person Pittsburgh Legal Department, which maintains a broad litigation and collective-bargaining related practice, has an immediate opening for an energetic, self-starting attorney with a demonstrated commitment to serving working people. A successful candidate will possess excellent writing and research skills and a strong academic record, including outstanding achievement in labor law and other courses relevant to a labor practice. Third-year students and judicial clerks will be carefully considered, along with more experienced labor lawyers.

USW is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to increasing the diversity of our Legal Department staff, which allows us to better represent and reflect the interests of our members. USW strongly encourages women, Black and indigenous persons and people of color, individuals with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and persons from non-traditional backgrounds to apply.

We offer a competitive salary and an outstanding benefits package. Please send a cover letter telling us about yourself and your interest in representing working people, along with copies of your resume, references, law school transcript, and two writing samples to:

David Jury, General Counsel
United Steelworkers International Union
60 Boulevard of the Allies
Pittsburgh, PA 15222
or by email to:
djury@usw.org

Many current USW lawyers were PBF Fellows during law school, and, as a long-time supporter of the Peggy Browning Fund, we encourage applications from PBF alumni.
