Student Internship - Summer 2023
Kakalec Law PLLC
New York
Kakalec Law PLLC is a public interest law firm which represents low-wage workers, migrant farmworkers, and others in employment and other matters. Our attorneys come from public interest backgrounds and we often co-counsel with community groups and legal services offices. We are hiring a law student to work with us full time this summer.
The student intern will assist with legal and factual research in support of the firm’s labor trafficking litigation, wage and hour class actions, Federal Tort Claims Act cases, and other discrimination and wage theft cases. The student will also communicate with clients, draft discovery and legal memoranda, review documents, conduct phone intakes, and perform other tasks. We have an active litigation practice and expect that the law student will get real hands-on experience and join firm attorneys for court appearances and depositions.
The salary for this position is $1,250/week. The student will be expected to work in our downtown Brooklyn office at least three days a week (assuming public health conditions permit and no accommodations are needed) but may work remotely other days.
Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Strong preference is for a student who can communicate fluently in Spanish and/or Hindi.
To apply, please send your resume and a cover letter to Jennifer Peterson at Jennifer@KakalecLaw.com. While the position will remain open until filled, we encourage students to apply as soon as possible, and ideally by February 3, 2023. To learn more about the firm please see our website, www.KakalecLaw.com.
