The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 61,000 pilots at 33 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks candidates for the below position in the Herndon/Tysons, Virginia office.

An experienced Labor Relations Counsel who will work under minimal direct supervision and within the limitations of Association policy. S/heprovides assistance to pilot governing bodies and to individual members on all subjects that affect their employment. S/he uses thorough understanding of applicable laws and comprehensive experience in Association policies and procedures to handle an extensive range of complex labor relations assignments, often on short notice, and functions as a labor relations professional. S/he also provides staff assistance in all phases of negotiating agreements; coordinates all activities during negotiations while concurrently maintaining communication with all interested parties; monitors and administers contracts; manages FAA actions against individual pilots; prepares summaries of NTSB Accident/Incident hearings; and handles all case management functions. S/he actively listens, builds trust, and adapts his/her style and tactics to fit the audience. Travel, significant and, at times, on short notice is required. Must be flexible and mobile – sometimes on short notice – based on meeting calendars, projects, and support demands.
