The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT), a progressive building trades union representing men and women in the painting, glazing, drywall finishing, floor covering and other crafts throughout the United States and Canada, seeks a Deputy General Counsel for its Maryland OR D.C. office. Experience with the NLRA and the LMRDA are required. Litigation experience, familiarity with general commercial matters (contracts, insurance, lease arrangements), employment law, immigration law, and the laws and regulations governing the operation of Taft-Hartley funds is preferred, but not required. The successful candidate will work directly with the International officers and the organizing department, as a partner of the General Counsel, to advise the International and its affiliates on all phases of their operations. Quality of experience and a willingness to learn new areas of the law are more important than any specific period of experience.
