The law firm represents major international and local unions, and currently serves as general counsel to the largest and fastest-growing local health care union in the country. The firm’s union clients represent workers in a variety of other industries including academia, utilities, textiles, cultural institutions, typography, brewery and postal service. The firm also provides legal counsel and representation to employee benefit funds and to progressive community and political organizations. In addition to institutional clients, the firm handles cases in behalf of individuals and groups of employees, and has worked as cooperating attorneys with the Center for Constitutional Rights and the New York Civil Liberties Union to fight discrimination and other abuses through impact litigation.
We seek a Peggy Browning Fellow with a commitment to workers’ rights issues and/or other progressive causes. This paid fellowship position entails research and writing on a variety of legal topics and the offers potential for client contact. Excellent research and writing skills, and an ability to work under short deadlines are essential. Minority students are strongly encouraged to apply.
The stipend for this fellowship will be $800/week for students who have completed their second year of law school and $750/week for students who have completed their first year of law school.
