This is the summer 2027 fellowship description for this mentor organization.

The Legal Department of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), located in Washington, DC, is seeking a full-time law clerk (40 hours/week) at a rate of $25/hour, beginning May 2027. The AFT Legal Department provides legal counsel to the union's officers and staff, as well as its local affiliates. Under the direction of the General Counsel and department attorneys, the law clerk will assist with a wide variety of research, writing, and litigation assignments. The subject matter of these assignments will include public and private sector labor relations, civil and immigrants’ rights, and education policy issues.

Qualifications: Law students applying should possess excellent research and writing skills and demonstrate an interest in labor law and public service. We will only accept applications from law students who have completed their 2L year by Summer 2027.
