Major League Baseball Players Association

New York, NY

This is the 2026 fellowship description for this mentor organization.

The MLBPA is the exclusive collective bargaining agent for all Major League Baseball Players, Minor League Baseball Players playing in a United States-based Minor League, and individuals who may become such Major or Minor League Baseball Players.  The Association represents those players for all purposes under the terms of the collective bargaining agreements between the MLBPA and the Thirty Clubs, including the filing and processing of grievances, and works with the agents who negotiate the players’ salaries and other added terms of employment. The MLBPA has a long and proud history of standing up for the rights of its members – past, present and future.

The Peggy Browning MLBPA Fellow will function much like a law clerk at any other union or union-side firm. They will be given a variety of research and writing assignments, depending on then-current demands. Where practical, the Fellow may attend arbitration hearings, grievance meetings, and other meetings with league officials, agents and players.

The Association prefers applicants who will have completed a labor law course prior to the start of their fellowship and an interest in practicing union-side labor law.

Typically, an MLBPA Fellow will work full-time during the summer and continue on a part-time basis during the fall and spring semesters. As a result, the Association traditionally looks to hire students from New York-area law schools. The Fellow could potentially work remotely or on a hybrid remote/in-office basis if public health circumstances permit it. The Fellow will be paid $30.00 per hour and is eligible for overtime.
