Hayes Dolce

Buffalo, NY

This is the 2024 fellowship description for this mentor organization. This fellowship position has been filled.

Hayes Dolce is a union-side labor law firm in Buffalo, NY, serving clients throughout upstate New York. The firm was founded on the principle that justice in the workplace is critical to justice in society. Our attorneys are dedicated to fierce advocacy for working people in all aspects of labor and employment, with years of experience in: representing unions before all federal and state agencies and in court; employee benefit fund matters; discipline and grievance arbitration; wage and hour suits; sexual harassment matters; employment discrimination suits; and breach of contract actions. We represent a number of large and small union clients in the area, and currently have a healthy practice of wage and hour cases.

Currently, Hayes Dolce is performing and helping to coordinate legal work for the Starbucks Workers United campaign. The firm’s attorneys have represented the historic campaign from its origin, and are continuing to do legal work on pre-election NLRB hearings, unfair labor practice issues, issues related to Starbucks workers bargaining their first collective bargaining agreement, and other issues both on the local and national level of the campaign.

The Peggy Browning Fellow in 2023 expect to hit the ground running and play a central role in the historic Starbucks campaign and other matters. The Fellow will likely also be given the opportunity to participate in other labor law work, including support in arbitrations, NLRB matters, along with the possibility of supporting wage and hour litigation.

The total ten-week stipend for this fellowship will be $7,000.

Applicants should include a cover letter, resume, and writing sample. Applicants who have completed a Labor Law class are preferred, but both 1L and 2L students are encouraged to apply.
