Neyhart, Anderson, Flynn & Grosboll

San Francisco, CA

This is the 2024 fellowship description for this organization. This position has been filled.

Neyhart, Anderson, Flynn & Grosboll is the latest configuration of the union-side labor law firm founded by former California Supreme Court Justice Mathew O. Tobriner in 1935. After Justice Tobriner's departure, the firm was carried on by Joseph Grodin, who also later served on the California Supreme Court, and Stanley Neyhart. Law clerks from our firm are now working as attorneys at many other Bay Area union-side labor law firms.

Since its inception, the members of the firm have been engaged exclusively in the practice of Labor Relations law for union clients, Trust Fund law for labor-management employee benefit funds, and apprenticeship training programs. We primarily represent unions and trust funds in the transit and building trades sectors. Our practice is approximately 50% for unions and 50% for pension, health and apprenticeship trust funds. While remaining small, the firm has maintained a reputation for the highest quality of legal representation for its clients.

Law clerks usually work on a variety of projects, including attending at least one arbitration and/or court hearing(s). In the past, our law clerks have worked on arbitrations, ERISA regulatory compliance issues, policies for apprentice programs, legal briefs, and other issues.

We require that applicants be available to work part-time in the fall and spring semesters following the summer (approximately 8-12 hours per week, but we are flexible with the demands of law school). In your cover letter, please specify that you are available for this additional time. We understand that this means applicants from law schools outside the commuting area cannot apply.

All six of our attorneys will work with and mentor the Peggy Browning Fellow.

The stipend for this fellowship will be $22 per hour.
