This is the 2020 fellowship description for this mentor organization. 

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents more than 1.4 million members. We are made up of more than 400 Local Unions throughout the United States and Canada. Our membership is extremely diverse and includes employees working in all types of transportation, warehouses, the public sector, news media, construction, motion pictures, food processing and more. The Union is a leading force in protecting union and worker rights through organizing, contract negotiation and administration and legislation. 

The General Counsel's office of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters is located in Washington, D.C. and provides legal counsel to Union officials and affiliated bodies. We deal with a wide variety of legal issues including traditional NLRB labor law, employment law, LMRDA, contract enforcement, the Railway Labor Act, and legislative and administrative law issues.

A Peggy Browning Fellow can expect to conduct research, draft memoranda, assist in drafting litigation pleadings and motions, assist in arbitration proceedings, and participate in education programs for union officers and members. We are looking for someone who has completed a basic labor law course and has a sincere desire to represent working people and unions. Second-year students are preferred; first-year students will be considered.

This position will pay $23/hour for a 35-hour week over the course of the 10-week fellowship.
