Philadelphia Awards Reception Recognizes 2 Union Leaders

Monday, April 22nd, 2013

The 2013 Philadelphia Peggy Browning Awards Reception recognized two Pennsylvania labor leaders - Rick Bloomingdale, President, Pennsylvania AFL-CIO and Sam Staten, Jr., Business Manager, LIUNA Local 332.

On an evening of impending storms, the union faithful came out to recognize these leaders for their commitment to working families in Philadelphia.  Held on March 6 at Penns Landing Caterers, Rick Bloomingdale spoke of the current state of the labor movement.  Ryan Boyer, Business Manager of the Laborers District Council Metro Philadelphia and Vicinity, accepted the award for Sam Staten, Jr. who was not able to attend.

John Mullholland, Jr., a 2011 Peggy Browning Fellow, spoke passionately about his summer fellowship experience.  2013 Peggy Browning Fellows and Alumni were also in attendance and networking with our guests.

Our thanks to the awardees, Host Committee and all the reception sponsors for ensuring Peggy Browning Fellows will have summer fellowships this year!
