    On June 24, the Peggy Browning Fund recognized James Boland, President of the Bricklayers Union, and Nancy Schiffer, retired Associate General Counsel of the AFL-CIO for their achievements on behalf of workers and their families.   • Peggy Browning Fund Loses Board Member, Mentor & Friend

    We are very sad to report the loss of Norm Gleichman, Deputy General Counsel of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and PBF Advisory Board member. Norm was very active as a mentor to Peggy Browning Fellows and other SEIU summer interns, as a member of the National Law Students Workers' Rights Conference Planning Committee and a member of our Washington, DC Host Committee. His loss will be felt for some time to come.

  • Peggy Browning Fund Mourns PA Labor Leader and Friend

    The Peggy Browning Fund is sad to report the passing of longtime friend and Pennsylvania Labor Leader Wendell W. Young III. Mr. Young, president emeritus of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776, passed away on January 1 at the age of 74 from liver cancer. His achievements on behalf of working men and women across Pennsylvania were recognized at our 2004 Philadelphia Dinner Dance.

  • Harold A. Katz, Longtime Chicago Labor and Safety Pioneer, Dies at Age 91

    Longtime Chicago Labor and Safety Pioneer, Harold A.Katz has passed away at the age of 91. Mr. Katz was one of three honorees to receive the Peggy Browning Award at our first awards reception in Chicago in 2003. Recognized with him were his former partner, Irv Friedman, and PBF Advisory Board member and Chicago Host Committee Co-Chair, Marv Gittler.
