United Steelworkers Legal Department – September 2025

United Steelworkers is a diverse union representing workers in the industrial and service sectors in the United States and Canada. Our 12-person Pittsburgh Legal Department, which maintains a broad litigation and collective-bargaining related practice, has an opening for an energetic, self-starting attorney with a demonstrated commitment to serving working people. A successful candidate will possess excellent writing and research skills and a strong academic record, including outstanding achievement in labor law and other courses relevant to a labor practice.  Third-year students, recent graduates, and judicial clerks will be carefully considered, along with more experienced labor lawyers.

USW is an equal opportunity employer, and all candidates are urged to apply.  USW strongly encourages women, Black and indigenous persons and people of color, individuals with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and persons from non-traditional backgrounds to apply.

We offer a competitive salary and an outstanding benefits package. Please send a cover letter telling us about yourself and your interest in representing working people, along with your resume, a list of references, law school transcript, and two writing samples to:

David Jury, General Counsel

United Steelworkers

60 Boulevard of the Allies

or by email to:

Many current USW lawyers were PBF Fellows during law school, and, as a long-time supporter of the Peggy Browning Fund, we welcome applications from PBF alumni.
