Supervising Attorney (with Potential Opportunity for Partnership)

Leonard Carder, LLP
California

Leonard Carder, LLP, located in Oakland, is looking for a supervising attorney who has six or more years of experience representing workers and labor unions and a demonstrated commitment to the labor movement. The position will have the potential for partnership for the right candidate, making this a rare opportunity for a union lawyer who is ready to take the next step in their career or already has considerable experience under their belt. For more than 80 years, Leonard Carder has aided unions and workers involved in some of the most memorable labor struggles on the West Coast and has championed workers’ rights in precedent-setting litigation.  The right candidate can help shape the future of this storied firm.

An ideal candidate should have strong research, writing and analytical skills, be a confident oral advocate, and be able to provide clear and supportive supervision to associates handling arbitrations, administrative hearings, and litigation.

Compensation will depend on the candidate’s experience and the details of the arrangement. Starting salary of $130,000+ with bonus potential. Salary negotiable based on experience, particularly for a candidate who has worked as a partner at a union-side firm, or who has considerable experience working in-house for a union.  Leonard Carder provides a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, student loan-repayment assistance, and cell phone stipend. After one year of employment, a supervisory attorney is eligible for Leonard Carder’s 401k plan, with employer contributions.

To apply, submit a letter of interest, a resume, references, and writing sample(s) to Samantha Thomas by email to SThomas@leonardcarder.com.
