PSEA is a professional and labor organization representing over 178,000 members and over 1,000 local union affiliates. The PSEA Legal Division provides advice and counsel to all aspects of the organization and engages in litigation concerning issues of statewide importance. PSEA attorneys specialize in labor and education law, and practice before arbitrators, state and federal courts, and various state and federal agencies, including the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board, the Professional Standards and Practices Commission, the Pennsylvania School Employees’ Retirement Board, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.   

  

PSEA is looking to fill a full-time, temporary attorney position.  The “Associate Staff Counsel” position will be based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and extend for two years, with a possible third year. The position is available now, but PSEA would also consider candidates available for an August 2026 start date. 3L candidates are welcome to apply.  

  

The attorney will work with PSEA’s general counsel and staff attorneys to advise PSEA, its local affiliates, and members in matters of organizational and statewide significance.  The attorney will also assist staff attorneys in representing PSEA’s local affiliates and members in employment-related matters in various forums.  Interested applicants should have an interest in labor and/or education law, have strong legal research and writing skills, and be able to analyze complex legal issues and prepare legal memoranda, advisories, briefs and pleadings as assigned by the attorneys. These individuals must also have self-supporting computer skills.  

  

PSEA is looking for someone who is willing to make a two-to-three-year commitment.    

  

The salary will be approximately $78k – 89k with employer paid health insurance and a comprehensive benefits package. Admission to the PA Bar is preferred for consideration for this position and is required after the first admission date after employment. Occasional travel as necessary to PSEA region offices and for meetings and hearings. This position would potentially work remotely up to two days per week.
